Through this live web camera, you can see the Smith River flowing through Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, home to many of the tallest trees on Earth. Smith River Alliance and Save The Redwoods League present this live streaming video in partnership with explore.org.
Observe the Smith River as it changes with the seasons: In summer the river winds slowly past ancient redwood sentinels and dances across gravel bars to fill deep clear pools. In late fall, flows increase as the Smith fills with salmon engaged in an ancient spawning ritual. Winter storms can raise the height of the river by ten feet in a short amount of time, transforming the Smith from mild to massive — alive with the power to move boulders as it hurtles to the ocean. While watching, be alert for river otter, eagles, osprey, drift boats, fishermen and kayakers that may come into view.
