SRA’s Lower River Historical Atlas, completed in October 2005, uses historical information to show how the lower river channel has changed over time.  The Atlas is useful in guiding and informing potential restoration projects and as a tool to illustrate the historical and ecological basis of current fish habitat issues on the lower river.

Within its many maps, aerial photos and charts, it is a fascinating story of ecological changes in the form of a living river.  The Smith River Alliance was fortunate in engaging the unique talents of Aldaron Laird in assisting us in developing this project to add yet another dimension to our understanding of this magnificent river system.
