This year’s count included 74 volunteers who surveyed 39 miles of the South and Middle Forks of the Smith River in search of adult salmonids. A total of 1,505 adult cutthroat were observed on the two river reaches. Other species that were seen include spring chinook, summer steelhead, aquatic garter snakes and rough-skinned newts.
